Sara Horvatić

Master of Film and Television Production and Directing

Sara Horvatić was born in 1998 in Varaždin. She spent her childhood and attended primary school in her hometown, Ljubešćica. After completing the Second Gymnasium Varaždin, she enrolled in the undergraduate program in Film, TV, and Multimedia Design at VERN' University in Zagreb, where she graduated in 2020, producing the short film Sama u vodi (Alone in the Water).


During her studies, she was actively involved in VERN' Sport and the VERN' Student Association, where she helped organize various events. In 2018, she launched the project "Film Evenings at VERN'", aimed at promoting Croatian film among students and connecting filmmakers.


In addition to her involvement at the university, she gained experience working on various student films and freelanced on Croatian feature and short films, commercials, and music videos in various production and directing roles.


After completing her undergraduate studies, she pursued a master's degree in Film and TV Directing and Production at the same university, graduating in September 2023 with a degree in production and directing of the short film Šutim (Silent).


She currently works as a producer at the Zagreb-based production company MOGLO. In addition to her work at MOGLO, Sara actively volunteers at the Natator Swimming Club, leads film and marketing workshops, and is developing a screenplay for the feature-length documentary 2.44 and the documentary series Snovi (Dreams), both supported by the Croatian Film Directors’ Guild.


In her free time, she practices photography and has held two solo exhibitions: Nestvarnost istine (Unreality of Truth, 2017) and Dnevnik tišine (Diary of Silence, 2021). She has also participated in group exhibitions in Barcelona, Berlin, Melbourne, and Lisbon. She holds a "Lighting Training" certificate from Turkish Radio Television Corporation (TRT) and completed a masterclass in portrait photography with Tajana Dedić-Starović. Since 2018, she has been a member of the international jury for the student photography competition at the Mediterranean Islands Conference on Vis.


Her graduate film Šutim (Silent) was selected for more than 15 festivals and won several awards, including Best Short International Film at the Women's Creators Festival in Izmir in 2024, Best Student Film at the French Riviera Film Festival in Cannes in 2024, and Best Student Short Film at the Croatian International Film Festival in Šibenik in 2024.
